The actor and stand-up comedian Mike Reid has died at the age of 67.
The former EastEnders star suffered a heart attack while in Marbella, Spain and his death came as "a bolt out of the blue."
Reid suffered heart attack.. Reid played Frank Butcher in the BBC soap over 18 years.
His agent David Hahn told Sky News he had been in good health.
Hahn said that Reid was a "giant of a man" and "was always pro the man in the street."
He added that his death was a "bolt out of the blue" and "the only consolation is that he didn't suffer."
He said that the actor had gone to a Spanish hospital after suffering chest pains.
Doctors said he died from a heart attack.
In recent months, Reid had semi-retired to Spain where he was living near a golf course.
Fellow comic Frank Carson said his death was "devastating news."
Reid landed the role as Frank Butcher in the BBC show in 1987.
Despite a break for a couple of years, he stayed until 2000.
He then announced he would be leaving the soap for good due to tiredness from the long filming schedules.
The star was persuaded to come back for some brief stints and his last appearance was in December 2005.
Rest In Peace Mike you will be sadly missed from all your fans from all over the world.. You were such a funny funny man..

Mike you always seemed to have such fun in the Eastenders as Frank, and came across as a throughly good bloke. Will be missed.

i was shocked when i heard about frank, i think he was a brilliant actor and he will be sadly missed by all, i have been watching eastenders since ian beale and sharoh watts used to go school, and i just cant believe it.
